    Catharine G. Heyes, a passionate gardener who won awards for horticultural achievement and served for many years on the board of Old Westbury Gardens, died Aug. 18 at home in Glen Cove. Her son Edward K. Heyes, of Hortonville, Wisconsin, said she died of natural causes after a brief illness.

    Nicholas Patrikis, 23, of Huntington, was arrested Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2015, after, according to Nassau County police, he crashed a Jeep in Oyster Bay Cove and then broke into a nearby home on Royston Lane, ransacking it and killing a cat. After fleeing the home, police said he menaced several motorists on Cove Road with a knife, then boarded a school bus and robbed two students.
