Decorated boats and holiday decor kick off this year's "Rocking on the DOCK Side of the Moon" themed parade, a tribute to all things groovy from the 1970s, inspired by the Pink Floyd album, with good vibes and fun times to be had. A Winter Wonderland & Holiday Marketplace will be held from 1-5 p.m. on Saturday, offering fun for all ages in the perfect setting for shopping local this holiday season with faux snowfall and more.

    Board of Supervisors calls for ban on gun shows at Fairgrounds Citing the recent Borderline shooting in Thousand Oaks, the Ventura County Board of Supervisors have asked that gun shows no longer be held at the Fairgrounds in Ventura. The Ventura County Fairgrounds is a state-owned property, with two gun shows scheduled and approved for 2019 by the Fair Board, which voted 5-2 to allow the shows to happen.

In Ventura County, however, advocacy groups in 2017 felt certain neighborhoods of Oxnard and Ventura as well as minority groups were severely underrepresented for too long and legally pushed for more equitable representation under threats of lawsuits, and both cities changed to district-based elections.

I first introduced him to the Vietnamese specialty at Mai's in Ventura and again at Pho Oxnard. Moving from Ventura to Moorpark in the last year, the local pho restaurant that looked most interesting online was Bamboo Cafe.

    Offshore fracking lawsuit win Chalk up a win for environmentalists as a federal judge has halted offshore fracking pending further review along the California coast. The Environmental Defense Center and Santa Barbara Channelkeeper filed a lawsuit in November 2016, alleging that the federal government had failed to disclose the potential risks and impacts caused by fracking and acidizing from offshore platforms in southern California and that fracking could be in violation of the Endangered Species Act should the technique harm animals on the list.

    Students improve reading ability in Boys & Girls Club program Student members of the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Oxnard and Port Hueneme Squires Housing satellite have reason to celebrate this month as test results show reading fluency improved by 113 percent over the summer. Youth aged 6 to 18 years old participated in the Summer Learning Academy made possible through funding by local philanthropist Bill Wilson through the Ventura County Community Foundation.
