    The Ventura City Council has voted unanimously, 7-0, to move forward with plans to open a homeless shelter on the city's east end. The vote gives the green light for officials to begin planning the opening of a year-round shelter at 2323 Knoll Drive, a building that the city owns and is expected to lease to itself for $1 a year with an outside contractor handling operations.

    Marijuana goes commercial in Ojai The Ojai City Council has voted 4-1 to allow recreational marijuana usage for adults 21 years of age and older, the first city in Ventura County to do so. Three marijuana collectives exist in the city, which, prior to the ruling, served only medical marijuana needs: Shangri-La Care Cooperative, Mr. Nice Guy Ojai and Sespe Creek Collective.

Gonzalez says that she developed Loud and Queer as a way to provide a platform specifically for LGBTQ+ and gender-expansive talent.

    The city of Oxnard alerted residents the last week of May about a security breach involving its online utility payment system, which allowed for several fraudulent purchases to be made on cards used in the system. City officials say that they were alerted on May 25 by a banking institution when several of its customers experienced fraudulent charges after having used the Click2Gov online payment system.
