    A federal appeals court Friday upheld the convictions of two Toledo-area businessmen in a nearly $24 million scheme involving Iraqi currency. The Cincinnati-based U.S. 6th Circuit Court of Appeals affirmed the fraud and money laundering convictions of Bradford Huebner, formerly of Ottawa Hills, and the wire fraud and conspiracy convictions of Charles Emmenecker, formerly of Sylvania.

    Dennis F. Keller, a lawyer and former president of the Toledo Estate Planning Council who offered his expertise to children with special needs and their families, died Sunday in Hospice of Northwest Ohio, South Detroit Avenue. He was 70. Mr. Keller of Ottawa Hills was in declining health, with diabetes and kidney failure, his daughter, Marisa Keller Bailitz, said.

    The trial of a former Ottawa Hills police officer charged with felonious assault for shooting and paralyzing a motorcyclist during a traffic stop is postponed until Aug. 15. Lucas County Common Pleas Judge Gary Cook on Monday granted the continuance at the request of an attorney for Thomas White, 33, now of Marion, Ohio. He is charged in the May 23, 2009, shooting of Michael McCloskey.
