    On March 8-11, the Age Group State Championship Meet was held at the Oro Valley Aquatic Center for Swimmers 14 years old and younger. Ethan Kellam , Mason Stewart , Joey Castellanos , Ben Fister , Tabitha Kellam , Evan Apuron , AJ Lopez and Riley Stewart achieved qualifying times at USA Swimming sanctioned meets to allow them to compete at the meet.

    To earn a spot at these meets, swimmers must achieve qualifying times at USA sanctioned swim meets in advance of the championship meets. Over the first two weekends in February, several Sea Lions swimmers attended the Last Chance Meet in Sahuarita on Feb. 3 Sea Lions Swimmers achieved a total of 39 personal best times at the two meets, including seven Junior Olympic Qualifying times.

His 1000 Freestyle time of 11:20.71 was more than a full minute faster that he had ever swam before, yet his winning time was just a fraction of second faster than the next competitor who he passed in the final 50 yards of the race for the win.

The events vary for each age group but in general include a 100 or 200 of each stroke , the 200 Individual Medley , and The scores from each event are then added together to obtain the IMX Score .

Schools of all sizes were represented and the competition level was intense in hopes of earning medals that was awarded by Olympic Champion, Matt Grevers. The meet served as a State Qualifying Meet, and the times earned would help determine qualifiers and individual rankings for the upcoming State Championships.
