    At approximately 6:00 p.m. Wednesday evening, an officer with the Port Barre Police Department saw a Ford Taurus traveling at a speed of 56 mph in a 45 mph zone on U.S. 190 Westbound. Chief Deon Boudreaux says that during the ensuing pursuit, the officer conducted an information check on the car's license plate and discovered that the vehicle was reported stolen out of Opelousas.

    Work was being done on the vessel and preliminary reports indicate at least 20 people were aboard when the blast occurred shortly after 9 a.m. along the Tennessee River outside Calvert City, Kentucky State Police Detective Jody Cash said. Timothy L. Wright, age 52, of Calvert City, Kentucky, Jerome A. Smith, age 56, of Thibodaux, Louisiana, and Quentin J. Stewart, age 41, of Opelousas, Louisiana, were pronounced dead at the scene by the Marshall County Coroner.
