    Although it has not been publicly announced yet, emailed obtained by SECoast have confirmed the a high speed railroad will be routed through Old Lyme. Emails obtained through the Freedom of Information Act filed with the Connecticut Department of Transportation show that the Federal Rail Administration decided four months ago to route the next generation of high speed rail infrastructure through Old Lyme and eastern coastal Connecticut.

    Shore Line East customers traveling between New London and Old Saybrook will have to use a bus service Friday night after a freight car derailment has stopped service. According to a spokesperson from the Department of Transportation, bus service will replace the eastbound and westbound directions of train service between New London and Old Saybrook as of 5:15 p.m. Train 1636: departs New Haven at 4:32 pm to Old Saybrook and then a bus will run from Old Saybrook to New London.
