    OCEANPORT - A jellyfish with a wicked sting that has invaded New Jersey waters this summer is now responsible for the postponing and altogether cancellation of water-based events on the Jersey Shore. The organizers of the Shore Paddle stand-up paddleboard event on the Shrewsbury River, which was scheduled to take place on July 9 to benefit Clean Ocean Action, became one of the first groups in New Jersey to choose the safety of their participants over hosting a planned event when they announced their event would be rescheduled for the spring of 2017.

Nearly two years later, in 2014, ground was broken on the planned mid- to high-end restaurant, as well as a planned 7,500-seat amphitheater that was also subsequently put on hold.

"I just want everybody to know that our former BA, John O. Bennett III, who sat right at this table and said 'I'm retiring, I love Oceanport, and I'm done, my wife's happy I'm done, we're going to sit back and rest,' filed and unemployment claim," Briskey said, "which every one of you, if you see UI, on your paycheck, you are helping to pay that.
