    Marion County deputies arrested on Monday the man who they say was involved in the Ocala nightclub shooting that killed a 19-year-old woman. Laquan Ria'Mel Barrow, 24, was charged with attempted second-degree murder and second-degree murder in the death of Benetria Robinson outside of Cloud 9 Club on South Pine Avenue earlier this month.

    A log truck in Putnam County crashed into a slow-moving train Thursday, spilling logs along County Road 20A before running into a power pole. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a CSX train was backing slowly across CR-20A when the log truck, driven by Monroe Tobia, from Ocala, Florida, approached the train traveling too fast to stop.

In a deal with prosecutors, James Amidei and Trevor Fitzgerald, both 32, each pleaded guilty Wednesday to one count of deprivation of rights under color of law, The Ocala-Star-Banner reported.

    Members of the Marion County Board of County Commissioners voted unanimously Tuesday to reinstate the Confederate flag atop a county building. Interim County Administrator Bill Kaufman and Marion County Board Chairman Stan McClain had decided to take down the Confederate flag at the end of June after South Carolina started discussing its laws surrounding the flag at its government centers.

    A Florida truck driver has been arrested after police say he punched another driver in the face and choked him with a belt, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. Troopers said Michael Kelly, 55, of Jacksonville, was driving a 2013 semi hauling cargo south on Interstate 75 approaching State Road 40 near Ocala when a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee, driven by a 27-year-old man from Citrus Springs, merged onto the interstate from SR 40. Kelly signaled for the Jeep to go ahead of him, troopers said.
