    At least one person was critically injured and flown to a hospital trauma center Saturday night in a head-on crash that was one of three during a treacherous 90 minutes on East Contra Costa County roads, authorities said. East Contra Costa County Fire Protection District crews also responded to a motorcycle crash and another vehicle crash between 6:30 p.m. and 8 p.m., in addition to the head-on wreck that sent the injured person to a hospital via helicopter.

Called the Contra Costa Canal Transfer Act, the bill written by Congressman Mark DeSaulnier, D-Concord, would transfer ownership of the canal system from the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation to the Contra Costa Water District, which is working on safety improvements to the canal.
