    According to the Sea Tow of Ocean Isle Beach's Facebook page, the stands at Ocean Isle Beach, Bricklanding, Holden Beach and Fish Factory Road in Oak Island have all been stolen. Sea Tow officials say the stands have been in the county for five years, and area boaters use the life jackets every day.

    The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Brunswick County and central Columbus County until 8:45 p.m. Locations in the warning include but are not limited to: Oak Island, Shallotte, Sunset Beach, Holden Beach and Ocean Isle Beach. This storm can produce winds in excess of 60 mile per hour or hail one inch in diameter or larger as the storm moves east at 25 mph.

    Officials say a 17-year-old boy is the latest victim of a shark attack off North Carolina's coast, the second attack in as many days and the sixth attack in the past two weeks. Rescue personnel and park rangers responded to the boy, who received what they described as injuries to his right calf, buttocks and both hands while swimming in the Outer Banks on Saturday, according to a post on the National Park Service's Facebook page.
