    Station Oak Island received a request from Bald Head Island Fire Department at 1 a.m. to transport the 35-year-old that had suffered a head injury. Coast Guard transported the man and two EMS personnel from Bald Head Island to Southport around 1:27 a.m. "We were glad to be able to help the Bald Head Island Fire Department medics get this man to shore to receive the care he needed," said Chief Petty Officer Erich White, Station Oak Island Executive Petty Officer.

Samples collected Tuesday showed test results of 344 enterococci per 100 milliliters of water, which exceeds the state and federal single-sample standard of 104 enterococci per 100 milliliters for Tier 1 high usage sites.
