"I was just staring at the ceiling, so I thought I might as well get up," he said, "but only I looked at the tape, no way was I putting the kids through that again ."

    A package delivered by FedEx containing a $250 Dyson vacuum cleaner was stolen from a residence in the 8300 block of South Chicago Road prior to 4:25 p.m. Feb. 23. A man was taken into custody for theft by fraud after he was caught using a stolen credit card at PDQ, 6300 S. 27th St., on Feb. 23. The suspect, who told police his "friend" stole the card, was also taken into custody for possession of cocaine and narcotics after police found 0.5 grams of cocaine and an oxycodone tablet in his possession during the arrest search.

McIntosh , a state placewinner two years ago, and the state's top-ranked wrestler at 138 pounds, advanced with a pair of decisions over Arrowhead and Hortonville opponents, while Agg, the second-ranked grappler at 195 and a placewinner last season, downed DeForest and Waterford opponents to earn his berth.

    A man walked out without paying for $217 worth of liquor at Meijer, 171 W. Town Square Road, at 12:20 a.m. Feb. 15. The suspect returned to the store at 9:50 p.m. the same day and shoplifted $219 worth of liquor. Both times the suspect fled the lot in a blue Nissan that was parked next to a loading dock.

    The top eight candidates for vacancies on the Oak Creek-Franklin Joint School Board have shifted since unofficial results of the spring primary were released last week . After its review of cast ballots on Feb. 22, the board of canvassers announced Elizabeth Sparks - not Gregory Loreck - will be the eighth candidate to go on to the general election April 5. Sparks will join incumbent Frank Carini, Josh Borzick, Veronica Baricevic, Darin Grabowski, Jeffrey Gassenhuber, Amy Mlot and Beth Waschow in the race for four open seats on the board.

    The Oak Creek wrestling team dominated the WIAA regional meet at South Milwaukee, winning the meet by more than 95 points, claiming seven individual weight classes and advancing 12 competitors to the individual sectional tournament at Racine Case on Saturday, Feb. 20. The Knights also earned a shot at a coveted state team tournament berth as they took on Kenosha Bradford on Tuesday, Feb. 16, in the WIAA Team Sectional Dual for the right to advance to the state team tournament in Madison on March 4-5. But there was little joy among the Knights, as Oak Creek's second-ranked in state junior 120-pounder Matt Berlin was not allowed to compete because he failed a ringworm test.

    In a notice sent Jan. 27 to residents, the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin reported that proposed major improvements at the Oak Creek Water and Sewer Utility could potentially result in a 33-percent rate increase. In response, dozens of water customers condemned the proposed rate hike during a public hearing held at the Oak Creek Public Library Feb. 16. But the incensed audience soon received a different story from Oak Creek officials: there will be no rate increase.

Incumbent Frank Carini was the clear front-runner in both communities, according to unofficial results.

    A male wearing all black clothing shoplifted sandwiches from the deli at Pick 'n Save, 6462 S. 27th St., and pulled a knife on an employee who tried to detain him at about 5:30 p.m. Feb. 11. When police found the suspect on South 27th Street, he refused to follow orders and show his hands. A sergeant from the Franklin Police Department who was assisting with the arrest had to deploy his Taser to subdue the suspect and take him into custody.

    Alderman Michael Toman and challenger Rosemarie Annonson have advanced to the April 6 general election after Tuesday's primary for a seat on Oak Creek's Common Council. According to TMJ 4, unofficial results show Toman with 176 votes, 66 percent of the vote, and Annonson with 56 votes, or 21 percent.

    Cash was stolen out of an apartment in the 8400 block of South Chicago Road between 11:45 a.m. and 12:10 p.m. Feb. 2. The cash, $2,000 in $100 bills, was inside a purse on the kitchen table. The apartment doors and windows were locked and there were no signs of forced entry.
