    In this Oct. 21, 1981, file photo, police are at the scene of a Brinks armored truck robbery at the Nanuet Mall in Nanuet, N.Y., where multiple Nyack police officers and a Brinks guard were killed earlier during the robbery. Judith Clark is a former Weather Underground member who has served 35 years of a 75-year-to-life sentence for her role in the robbery, will be eligible for parole in 2017 following a commutation from New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Friday, Dec. 30, 2016.

    Chanting "Don't be a rat, be a Democrat" a group of about 10 Rockland County Democrats drove up to Albany Tuesday to picket a $500-per-head fundraiser that Independent Democratic Conference member David Carlucci was holding at Albany's Fort Orange Club, a favored fund raising spot when the legislature is in town. They said they were motivated by a combination of anger that the now-eight member IDC has kept the mainline Dems from power in the Senate, and by the idea that the Trump presidency makes it even more important for Democrats to take control when and where they can.

    When Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced $1.5 billion in grants last March to fund health care capital and infrastructure improvement projects, only eight of the 162 grants went to private businesses. By far the biggest winner of the private firms was Crystal Run Healthcare LLP, a rapidly expanding company based in the Hudson Valley that seemed flush with cash even before $25.4 million in state subsidies arrived.

    "I don't think there's anyone who would say that 35 years is a slap on the wrist," Gov. Andrew Cuomo said Monday of his decision last week to commute the sentence of 67-year-old Judith Clark , who drove the getaway car in an October 1981 robbery in Rockland County that killed two Nyack police officers and a Brink's armored car guard. Clark, a former Weather Underground radical, was found guilty of second-degree murder and robbery and initially sentenced to 75 years to life sentence.
