    The Kentucky State Police investigated a single-vehicle, injury-collision that occurred on KY 171, approximately one mile south of Greenville, on Monday, August 17th, at 2:00 p.m. The preliminary investigation revealed that Michael Lile, 23, Greenville, KY, was operating a 2003 Honda Accord northbound on KY 171 when the vehicles passenger side tires dropped off the right shoulder of the roadway. Mr. Lile overcorrected, crossing into the southbound lane, and exiting the roadway.

    The Kentucky State Police is investigating a two vehicle, fatality collision that occurred on US 62, approximately one mile west of Princeton, on Monday, August 17, at 3:21 p.m. The preliminary investigation revealed that Paula Brown, 50, Fredonia, KY, was operating a 2000 Jeep Cherokee, pulled over onto the emergency strip of the eastbound lane of US 62 West. Mrs. Brown, a United States Postal Carrier, was stopped in the emergency strip delivering mail in front of 11000 US 62 West.

As he was negotiating a curve, the ATV experienced a mechanical issue, causing Mr. Lanier to lose control.

Kentucky law requires that if any school or church bus used in the transportation of children is stopped upon a highway for the purpose of receiving or discharging passengers, with the stop arm and signal lights activated, the operator of a vehicle approaching from any direction shall bring his vehicle to a stop and shall not proceed until the bus has completed receiving or discharging passengers and has been put in motion.

For an undetermined reason, the vehicle crossed into the westbound lane of travel and onto the emergency strip. The vehicle exited the westbound shoulder of the roadway and entered a ditch, before becoming partially airborne.
