    The Koochiching County Board Tuesday heard from Northome City Council member and committee representative Jerry Struss when he presented a Small Cities Aid recommendation recently decided upon by a special committee. The committee, which formed in April at a Koochiching Development Authority meeting, has been meeting to study the issue of Small Cities Aid for Koochiching County cities with a populations of less than 1,000 residents.

    The Minnesota Department of Education Monday released the 2017 Minnesota Comprehensive Assessment, or MCA, scores and all three Koochiching County school districts saw improvements from last year. "Overall, the math came in a tenth of a percent higher than the state average which is progress in the right direction," said Falls Superintendent Kevin Grover.
