    Executives of a Worcester-based home healthcare agency accused of defrauding the state's Medicaid program out of more than $800,000 entered not-guilty pleas at their arraignments Wednesday in Worcester Superior Court. Compassionate Homecare Inc., its 41-year-old owner, Francis Kimaru of North Grafton, and two agency officials were indicted last month on medical assistance fraud and larceny charges in connection with what prosecutors allege were "numerous fraudulent schemes" to bilk MassHealth, the state agency that administers tax-funded Medicaid to poor and low-income people, out of $815,588 for nursing and other services that were either not authorized or never provided.

    A small, tight-knit community with a lot of young children is trying to come to terms with the tragic death of a 5-year-old boy who is believed to have been accidentally hit by a car while playing in the family's driveway in North Grafton. The 5-year-old boy was killed Sunday on Samuel Drive when he was struck by a car near his home about 3:52 p.m., according to the district attorney's office. Worcester District Attorney Joseph D. Early declined to release the boy's name; however, he said in a news release Sunday night that the death "appears to be the result of a tragic accident."
