    A former North Augusta Middle School Parent Teacher Organization treasurer was in court Monday to discuss why she has not paid back restitution to the PTO after she pleaded guilty in 2012 to stealing $35,000 in funds from the organization. Connie F. Boisclair, 57, of Adams Branch Road in North Augusta, pleaded guilty in April 2012 to breach of trust with fraudulent intent valued at more than $10,000, and she was sentenced to six years suspended upon probation for five years and restitution to be set by the S.C. Department of Probation, Parole and Pardon Services.

    All 20 North Augusta residents indicted last week on racketeering and fraud charges have not been arrested, but a hearing in federal court is expected in the coming weeks. Nancy Wicker, chief of the criminal division of the U.S. Attorneys Office in Columbia, said the 20 North Augusta residents, who live in the Irish Traveler community of Murphy Village, in addition to two Augusta residents, were not arrested after their indictment was announced Aug. 16. Wicker said, depending on the process, defendants facing white collar crimes are not arrested, as they are not believed to be a flight risk or a danger to the community.
