NEWARK - A North Arlington physician was sentenced Thursday to a little more than three years in prison for his role in a wide-ranging kickback scheme involving more than two dozen doctors and $100 million in illicit Medicare payments to a Parsippany medical testing firm, the office of U.S. Attorney said Thursday.

    A doctor with an office in North Arlington was sentenced Thursday in federal court in Newark to more than three years in prison for taking bribes for test referrals. Angelo Calabrese, 57, of Pine Brook pleaded guilty to one count of accepting bribes for his role in a long-running scheme by the president and several associates of Biodiagnostic Laboratory Services LLC of Parsippany, U.S. Attorney Paul J. Fishman said in a news release.
