    Using the Internet to pose as prostitutes, local and area law enforcement arrested 13 suspects who agreed to trade sex or sexual acts for money last weekend. Sting operations took place with the cooperation of hotels in New Ulm on Friday, July 10 and St. Peter on Sunday, July 12, according to a New Ulm Police Department news release.

    Decades in the making, a two-year, $31 million Highway 14 four-lane expansion project from Nicollet to North Mankato began Monday with a groundbreaking ceremony at the Nicollet County Highway shop. The project with a 2.5-mile, four-lane Nicollet bypass and an interchange with Highway 111 south of town with two roundabouts, is scheduled to be complete by fall 2016.

    Construction of the four-lane expansion of Highway 14 from west of Nicollet to North Mankato will begin July 6 and result in a detour for Nicollet County Road 23. The project, which includes building 6.5 miles of two additional lanes north of existing Highway 14 and a 2.5-mile, four-lane southern bypass of Nicollet with an interchange for Highway 111/CR 23, will be staged for traffic with three detours between July 6 and fall of 2016. County Road 23 one-half mile south of Nicollet is the site of the new interchange for an extended Highway 111 and the new Highway 14 bypass.

    Two Nicollet men were honored by the Nicollet Fire Department Tuesday for their CPR efforts that helped save the lives of two men who suffered heart attacks. Kevin Kramer and Lucas Paakh said they weren't CPR certified by any means, but they knew enough about the life-saving procedure to do chest compressions for a few minutes before Nicollet Firefighters and First Responders arrived at a Nicollet residence and the Nicollet Mart after 911 calls were made.
