    State police on Monday charged Chase A. Donovan, 23, of Nicholville with first-degree assault and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon. Troopers charge at about 7:30 p.m. on Monday at the Massena Intake on Route 131 Mr. Donovan was in a physical altercation with a 23-year-old Massena man and struck him in the back of his head with a 3-foot long pine log, causing a deep cut to the man's head.
