Mr. Guterba, a 1950 graduate of Springfield Local High School, served in the Army's 82nd Airborne division from 1955-57 and later in the Army Reserves.

After junior Karlee Byrne smashed a solo home run to tie the game at one apiece, Girard had a golden opportunity to take control of the game in the sixth inning when Gabby Cario drove one off the center field wall with two outs and a runner on second, the runner hesitated and was thrown out at the plate to end the inning.
