    The Cheney Summerhawks 17U baseball team traveled to Riverside High School where they went 1-1 in a doubleheader against a Priest River club team, June 7. After the Summerhawks lost the first game 14-10, they came back to win the nightcap, 12-7. "This Priest River team was a combination of kids from three different schools, Riverside, Newport and Priest River," head coach Austin Sharp said.

    A Washington state man has been sentenced to more than six years in prison and ordered to forfeit more than $278,000 after pleading guilty to conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine. The U.S. Attorney's Office says 50-year-old Mark Irvin Roberts of Newport, Washington, was sentenced on June 4 by U.S. District Judge Dana Christensen in Missoula.

    One man is in the hospital and another in jail following an early morning shooting in Pend Oreille County on Wednesday. Deputies received a report that a man had been shot multiple times outside of a home along Highway 2. The victim, 34-year-old Michael Shelly of Newport had been taken to the hospital in a private vehicle.

I would hear all the anti-California comments so I said, "Yeah I know, you guys don't want anymore Californians until you want to sell your house and then you want just one more!" Did they ever hate that! Well, we're doing a mighty fine job of luring many more of those folks with all this building - houses by the acre here in Post Falls.

    One man is dead after his car caught fire following a crash on State Route 211 about 12 miles east of Newport according to the Washington State Patrol. Just before 10:15pm on Monday the man driving, passed another vehicle at a high rate of speed when he lost control of the car, leaving the roadway on the right side after over correcting twice.
