Efforts to pursue renovations stalled as City Council members expressed "sticker shock" when a consultant came forward with a $2.5 million construction plan for the facility at 6630 Van Buren St. The plan called for the construction of an exercise room at the front of the building with all new equipment, a child care center and rentable party rooms that would be built adjacent to the pool deck.

All of the cities set their property tax rates and approved 2016-17 budgets during public hearings last month.
