The New Port Richey police officer saw a 2014 Nissan speeding south on U.S. 19 at about 12:25 a.m. and used radar to check the speed, according to an arrest report.

    Pasco County Sheriff deputies arrested the mayor of San Antonio, and charged him with driving under the influence of alcohol on Thursday. According to an arrest affidavit, Tim Newlon, 43, was pulled over on US-19 near Cross Bayou Blvd in New Port Richey just after 12 a.m. Newlon told the deputy he hadn't drank alcohol that night, but failed several field sobriety tests.

    The Florida Highway Patrol has identified the 62-year-old man killed in a car crash Sunday morning in Pasco as Larry R. James of New Port Richey. According to the Highway Patrol, James was driving a 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe when he pulled out of the Highland Loop and did not stop for a Saturn SUV westbound on State Road 54. That SUV, driven by 38-year-old Abigail Bryant of Pinellas Park, collided with James' Hyundai, sending the Hyundai's rear bumper flying into the eastbound lanes, where it was then hit by a Kia Sorento.
