    The Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office says three adults and an 8-month-old baby died after an SUV ran off the road, hit a guard rail and overturned in New Iberia. Maj. Ryan Turner, a sheriff's office spokesman, tells The Daily Iberian that a 7-year-old boy was the only survivor of the wreck Saturday evening.

    According to deputies, on Friday, July 31, they responded to a purse snatching at 900 Mississippi Street in New Iberia around 1:18 p.m. The victim says she was in her vehicle when she was allegedly approached by a man who then began to strike her and took her purse from inside of the vehicle. Stony Brook University professor Susan Larson tells Newsday that her experiments involving Hercules and Leo ended this year and the chimps will be leaving the university on Long Island soon.

The seven children ranging in age from 6 to 11 raised the money by giving away lemonade from 5 p.m. To 7 p.m. in New Iberia Patrons were encouraged to donate and the children are still receiving calls Monday from people wanting to help out.

    A New Iberia man has pleaded guilty to first-degree murder in the 2008 cold-case strangulation of 61-year-old Judy Blanchard Landry. State District Judge Keith Comeaux on Tuesday sentenced 60-year-old Keith Overton Leleux to life in prison after he confessed to choking Landry until she passed out, then cinching zip ties around her neck until she died from asphyxiation.
