The Justice Department and state prosecutors ruled out criminal charges in White's death, but the judge said the manner of White's death hasn't been "conclusively established."

    St. Martin Parish voters are being asked to grant a 1.75-mill tax to support the St. Martin Parish Council on Aging. The council, which provides services to seniors across the parish, would receive a stable income of approximately $650,000 annually if voters approve the tax on October 14. Executive Director Shanese L. Lewis said the stable income would allow the agency to plan services better, but also would allow some expansion of services.
