    The man who shot at three police officers at point-blank range while they were seeking him in a darkened Berlin home in 2012, lost an appeal to toss out his conviction and his 48-year prison sentence for felony assault. In an 18-page decision released late Monday, the state Appellate Court rejected the bid by Jeffrey Yeaw to overturn his conviction on grounds the trial court violated his rights by not ordering a competency evaluation, failed to provide sufficient evidence to justify conviction on all six counts and erred in allowing testimony on arrest warrants for uncharged misconduct.
