    The event was light-hearted and tons of fun, but the reasoning behind it benefited a serious cause, as the second annual Sham Rock and Roll Pub Crawl for the Pantry brought in $3,598.50 for the Western Bureau County Food Pantry. Organized by Lisa Aber, Toni Pickard, Annette Carper and Nancy Carper, participants board a bus that goes to a tavern in each of the five towns served by the food pantry - Sheffield, Buda, Manlius, Neponset and Mineral.

    According to a Bureau County Sheriff's Office press release, officers were called to an accident at the intersection of Kentville Road and Route 40 at about 4:40 p.m. The driver of one of the vehicles, Jamie L. Peed, 32, of Neponset was pronounced dead at the scene. The initial investigation determined Peed's car and a semi truck collided in the intersection.

    On Sunday, Jan. 3, my wife and I went to the Peoria Riverfront Museum to see the Bradford Gypsy Coed Exhibit, complete with the 1926 Model T Ford the Bradford girls used as their means to travel the country. The exhibit was inspired by John Butte's newly-published book, “Darlene's Silver Streak and the Bradford Model T Girls.”It's a true story about Butte's mother and her friends who traveled the country in the late 1930s and 1940s, leaving from Bradford each summer for destinations as far away as Canada, Washington D.C., and California .

Six Bradford band and chorus students were selected to participate in the IMEA District II Music Festival at Augustana College in Rock Island on Nov. 7.
