    City officials are lauding the completion of the Naugatuck Avenue reconstruction project, a long-time-coming effort to fix flooding in the Devon area of Milford. "For the last 50 years we've had flooding all along Naugatuck Avenue, and we have finally completed a drainage project and reconstructed a large stretch of road," said Mayor Ben Blake.

    After numerous reports of items being stolen from sheds in Milford, local police believe they have nabbed two of the suspects and are searching for one that got away. According to police, at about 4:45 a.m. on Nov. 30 officers were dispatched to the area of Beaverbrook Road and Naugatuck Avenue on the report of people loading equipment into a van.

    The former location of Cornerstone Christian Center at 192 Meadow Street will be converted into the new home of Once Upon a Time Development Center, following unanimous Planning and Zoning Board approval on Nov. 15. The board granted a special permit and amendment to a site plan approval. Gina Rivera, the day care center's owner and director, told the board that the building's exterior would remain unchanged, other than the addition of an outdoor play area and two parking spaces for the handicapped.

    Although it has been less than two years since the Planning and Zoning Board adopted regulations detailing where medical marijuana dispensaries and production facilities can be located, Mayor Benjamin Blake, the Milford Prevention Council and residents are calling on the board to revise those regulations, saying the existing regulations are not restrictive enough. The board heard testimony at its April 5 meeting from Blake and representatives of the MPC, plus commentary from residents, most of whom live near a planned dispensary on West River Street.
