    Ken Ripley, editor-publisher of the Spring Hope Enterprise since 1975, officially retired Wednesday because of poor health and announced the sale of the newspaper to the neighboring family-owned Wilson Times. The Enterprise will remain Spring Hope's weekly newspaper and operate at its same location.

The funds raised will be used to make repairs and improvements at Oakdale Cemetery, including the cemetery pathways.

    By MARK CONE Spring Hope police officers responded to a call on West Franklin Street about a shooting in the early evening on Wednesday, April 11. Officers arrived on the scene around 5:57 p.m. and found Cleavon Williams, an adult male of Spring Hope, suffering from a single gunshot wound to the chest from what appeared to be a small caliber firearm. Investigators were able to determine that Sevon Deans, 17 of Middlesex was arguing with Williams at Williams home when he produced a weapon and shot Williams.
