According to a press release from the Elkhart County Sheriff's Department, Marvin Whitacre, 48, Cromwell, was driving east on U.S. 6 and passed another vehicle, which forced a westbound vehicle driven by Marvin Whitener, 51, of Elkhart, to swerve and lose control.

    A Nappanee teen had to be flown by helicopter to Memorial Hospital in South Bend Saturday after suffering injuries in a one-vehicle crash. Lamar J. Slabaugh, 18, of 9515 W. CR 1350N, Nappanee, was traveling east in his 1995 Chevrolet Blazer around 11 a.m. Saturday on CR 1050N when the right side tires of his vehicle dipped off the right side of the road, according to a Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department accident report.
