    Mystic - The owner of the critically acclaimed Oyster Club and Engine Room, both in Mystic, is now planning to open a third restaurant and butcher shop at 24 East Main St. Daniel Meiser , under the name Whole Beast LLC, is seeking a special use permit from the Stonington Planning and Zoning Commission to expand the existing restaurant space to 52 seats with a permit to sell beer and wine. The building, which is across the street from the Mystic Post Office, has housed a Tim Horton's donut shop, Wide World of Bagels and most recently Cafe 511.

    Mystic - Groton Town police on Saturday arrested a state trooper who allegedly struck another person in the face repeatedly while at the Chapter One restaurant in Mystic earlier in the morning. Jeffrey A. Meninno , 52, of Waterford, was charged with second-degree assault, breach of peace and third-degree assault in relation to the incident, which occurred about 1 a.m. Second-degree assault is a felony.

    Groton - Town police on Saturday arrested a state trooper who allegedly struck another person in the face repeatedly while at the Chapter One restaurant in Mystic earlier that morning. Jeffrey A. Meninno , 52, of Waterford was charged with second-degree assault, breach of peace and third-degree assault in relation to the incident, which occurred about 1 a.m. Witnesses at the scene identified Meninno, who police said left the bar after the altercation, as the suspect.
