    Unsealed today was a federal grand jury's two-count indictment charging six alleged robbers in connection with stealing a U-Haul of marijuana from the Murphys area. As reported here , four suspects were arrested June 24 after a multi-vehicle chase down Highway 12 in Valley Springs, following the theft from a local grower.

    County officials share that three removal projects have been completed along the Highway 4 corridor, but as Project 4 in Big Trees Village is underway; they have hit a road block. Although a first round of letters with a Right of Entry form already went out to property owners in West Point, Wilseyville, Railroad Flat, Glencoe, Avery and Murphys, few have been returned.

    Officials have in custody one of two suspects who had escaped arrest after a marijuana robbery and torture incident near Murphys followed by a deadly multi-vehicle chase. As reported here , the June 24 robbery of a U-Haul filled with marijuana from a location on French Gulch Road included torture-style attacks on multiple victims who were bound to chairs and robbery of other valuables.

    Two raids carried out by the Calaveras County Sheriff's Office Marijuana Enforcement Team netted nearly 3,000 pot plants - but evidence found on the site revealed another approximately 4,000 plants had just been harvested on one of the sites. The searches took place last week on the sites suspected of illegal marijuana cultivation.

    Two properties were searched in the Murphys area Thursday and members of the Calaveras County's Marijuana Enforcement Team hauled in more than 1,300 pot plants, nearly two pounds of processed marijuana and uncovered a shed full of watch dog.     The CHP is hoping someone will recognize the man pictured in the image box so they can question him regarding a hit and run in Murphys. Investigators say he is the driver involved in a collision in the parking lot of the Sierra Hills Market on Highway 4. Security video footage shows the suspect behind the wheel of a white Nissan Murano on Tuesday around 11:30 a.m. He backed into the rear of a 2016 Land Rover that was unoccupied.

    Authorities have released the identity of a local woman who tragically passed following a two-vehicle crash during which she ejected from her driver's seat. As reported here , the accident occurred Saturday night around 7:20 p.m. According to CHP San Andreas Unit officials, the victim was 36-year-old Dorthea J Martz of Angels Camp.
