    A historic fountain on Detroit's Belle Isle will get $400,000 in upgrades following a charity fundraiser that was held as part of the Detroit Grand Prix. The Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix presented by Lear on Tuesday announced efforts to keep the James Scott Memorial Fountain operating will get nearly half of the roughly $1 million raised for the Belle Isle Conservancy during the 2018 Grand Prixmiere, a major fundraiser for the island park.

    A 12-year-old Plant City boy died Tuesday when the car he was riding in turned into the path of a semitrailer on State Road 60, authorities said. Miguel Resendiz was riding in an eastbound BMW 328xi when its driver, 29-year-old Maricela Resendiz of Plant City, tried to turn north onto Bailey Road and crossed into the path of a westbound 2006 Freightliner semi truck, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
