    Arsenic levels measured in Mountain Island Lake near a Duke Energy power plant last month were the highest seen in 12 years.  Officials blame the high levels on the cleanup of coal ash ponds at Riverbend Steam Station in Mount Holly, according to an email sent to Gastonia City Council by Assistant City Manager Flip Bombardier.  The levels of arsenic near Riverbend Steam Station, measured by Mecklenburg County last month, are almost 10 times the amount the government allows in public water provided to residents.
