    FREE sessions in sports centres, a clamp-down on takeaways and giving away thousands of free bikes are among the ideas being considered to help tackle Bradford's obesity crisis. Two-thirds of the district's adults are now overweight or obese, according to health figures, leading to an increased risk of cancer, heart disease, type two diabetes and other potentially fatal illnesses.

    Just 23.4 per cent of over-18s in the county manage to clock up half an hour of heartbeat-raising exercise every seven days, new figures from Public Health England have revealed. Evidence has shown ten minutes of walking at a 'brisk' pace each day can pevent all those illnesses and more, and physical inactivity in adults contributes to one in six deaths in the UK.
