    A Jefferson County real estate developer and hotel owner has filed for bankruptcy protection, listing more than $7.5 million owed to creditors. Ronald Marcus filed for bankruptcy Dec. 19 ahead of a foreclosure sale for both Turf LLC, which owns the Turf Motel and Rib Room at 741 E. Washington St., in Charles Town, as well as Marcus Enterprises LLC, the developer of a number of lots in the Fox Glen and Briar Run subdivisions, together valued at more than $3.1 million.

    Despite falling a bit short on the pitch, the Jefferson boys' soccer team won big at the postseason ballot box. The Cougars, who reached the Class AAA high school state semifinals before losing 2-0 to eventual champion Morgantown, placed three players on the first-team all-state squad, tied with Winfield for the largest contingent.
