    Police are looking for an 18-year-old woman they have described as at-risk who has not been seen in a week since heading to a local bus stop on the way to school in San Jose. Desirae Akins-Qualls, of Morgan Hill, was last seen May 4 walking to a bus stop on Monterey Road and Vineyard Boulevard, where she was supposed to board a Valley Transportation Authority bus to San Jose, according to police.

Garcia-Torres has pleaded not guilty in Santa Clara County Superior Court to the four charges against him: the murder of Sierra in 2012 and three counts of trying to kidnap and carjack the other women in 2009 as they returned to their cars in supermarket parking lots.

    A passenger who died in a violent high-speed crash on Santa Teresa Boulevard over the weekend has been identified as a 20-year-old Morgan Hill man, according to the Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner's Office. Edwin Galan Martinez was riding in a Chrysler Sebring when the driver lost control on northbound Santa Teresa near Sunshine Street, causing the car to drift sideways into oncoming traffic and crash into a Toyota Camry, Morgan Hill police said.
