    The pier at east Santa Cruz Island's Scorpion Rock is one step closer to being replaced after the National Park Service announced that an environmental impact report has been completed. The original pier fell into disrepair after high tides damaged the structure, leaving the NPS with three options: Do nothing, replace the existing pier or build a new pier 300 feet to the south of the existing location.

    Food Forward, a Ventura County nonprofit, received over 11,000 pounds of grapefruit on May 20, equating to 285 cases, and donated it all to Moorpark Catholic Charities, the United Methodist Church of Thousand Oaks, Santa Clara Valley Neighborhood for Learning, Simi Valley Community Garden Pop-Up Produce Market and Resurrection Church. On June 3, volunteers returned to finish off the rest of the orchard in Somis, collecting another 10,000 pounds of the tangy fruit.
