    Right on the heels of a natural gas outage in Monterey County , some overnight wind gusts and a brief downpour felled some power lines that cut off electricity to about 1,400 customers in Monterey and Pacific Grove on Friday, Oct. 20. Broken equipment and power lines in at least three areas of Monterey caused the outages to customers in the areas of both New and Old Monterey, the Presidio and the Del Monte Park neighborhood in Pacific Grove. Downed power lines at the corner of David Avenue and Jessie Street in New Monterey caused a small fire at the pole.
