    Smith County officials confirm a teenager has died after a motorcycle crash Sunday morning involving a Smith County Deputy at the intersection of Highway 28 and County Road 64, just west of the town of Mize. According to Smith County Sheriff Charlie Crumpton, a Smith County Deputy was responding to an alarm call when he struck a motorcycle with two juveniles on it, just before 4:30 a.m. Sunday.

    Thousands of people came to the town of Mize this weekend to celebrate, and eat a lot of, the area's favorite fruit. "We've been in existence for a long time and we try to grow and add and do something different for people every year and we just always appreciate the people that come out and spend the weekend with us," said Terresa Stewart, festival director and member of the Mize Volunteer Fire Department.

    The schedule for the day started with Mize against Mendenhall at 11 a.m., Mendenhall against Salem at 1:30 p.m. and closed with Mize against Salem at 3:45 p.m. All veterans and active service members were recognized at the game and given free entry to the game with a military ID. Col. John W. Logan of Prentiss threw the first pitch at 10:55 a.m. The team wore camouflage jerseys special to the event were auctioned during the game.
