    By Roxanne Thompson Staff Writer With computer use virtually universal in the United States, people have to concern themselves not only with staying up-to-date on using computer hardware and software, but more and more they need to become savvy on attacks from hackers and how to avoid them. Stephen Wells, who has his own computer business in Groesbeck called Wells IT Service, spoke to the Mexia Lions Club about these incidents, specifically phishing, which refers to hackers trying to trick a computer user into allowing the hacker to access their files; and also ransomware, which lets a hacker freeze a computer user's data until they pay money to get it released.

Commissioners also agreed to lease out county-owned voting machines for the spring city and school board elections, heard estimates for continued restoration at the county-owned prison, and made decisions concerning the Law Enforcement Center and other matters.

    It was a fight to the end out in Abbott Tuesday night, but the Coolidge Yellowjackets were able to hold off the Panthers in the end to record their fourth straight district win with a 54-52 victory. Coolidge led by two after the first period, then really started to settle into a groove in the second quarter as Manuel Santa Cruz scored six points and Jordan Brown, Emmanuel Rivera and Juan Acevedo all sank three pointers to give the Yellowjackets a somewhat comfortable 34-22 lead at the half.

The first period was more of a defensive struggle as both teams managed just two points each.
