    Even though the charging stations being installed at the Bayshore Mall in Eureka are part of Tesla's “Supercharger” network, which are exclusively dedicated to powering those electric vehicles, according to the Redwood Coast Energy Authority the North Coast can expect to see generic fast charging stations soon. RCEA Operations Manager Dana Boudreau said the California Energy Commission is currently funding fast-charging stations along key transportation corridors including U.S. Highway 101 through Del Norte, Humboldt, Mendocino, and Sonoma counties.

    Fort Bragg became the first California city to be declared a “Bee City USA,” the Fort Bragg City Council announced this week. The council was encouraged to seek the designation, bestowed upon municipalities by the non-profit organization Bee City USA, by Lavender Cinnamon and Paul Katzoff of Bee Bold Mendocino and the Thanksgiving Coffee Company, who are striving to make Mendocino County “bee-friendly.” “Our City Council let it be known that Fort Bragg understands the importance of sustaining pollinators and wants to do everything we can to make the city more pollinator-friendly and 'bee' part of the solution,” said Fort Bragg Mayor Dave Turner.

    More than 40,000 marijuana plants were confiscated in northern Mendocino County this week during a multi-day eradication effort conducted by multiple agencies, the Mendocino County Sheriff's Office reported. According to the MCSO, the eradications conducted in and around Laytonville, Leggett and Dos Rios resulted in 40,397 marijuana plants being removed, 14 people being arrested, seven firearms being seized and 37 cases of environmental damage being discovered that include illegal water diversions and stream pollution as well as solid waste violations.
