    Two North Carolina businessmen have pleaded guilty in the U.S. District Court in the Middle District of North Carolina to conspiracy to defraud the United States, announced Acting Assistant Attorney General Caroline D. Ciraolo of the Justice Department's Tax Division and U.S. Attorney Ripley Rand of the Middle District of North Carolina. Kenneth Dale Stainback, 61, of Burlingto pleaded guilty on Tuesday and Stephen Ray Smith, 60, of Mebane pleaded guilty on Monday to conspiring to defraud the U.S. by filing false corporate tax returns for McClure Funeral Service.
