    Athena Renee Doyle, a McKinleyville mother accused of attempting to kill her two children in October by driving off a cliff, was in Mendocino County Superior Court on Wednesday morning and waived her right to a preliminary hearing, according to the Mendocino County District Attorney's Office. Doyle, 35, will face arraignment on attempted murder charges of her two younger children at 1:30 p.m. on Dec. 4, said Mike Geniella, a Mendocino County DA spokesman.

Standing handcuffed in the courtroom in an orange jail jumpsuit, David Bernard Anderson II, 42, watched as his attorney Ben McLaughlin filed a motion with the court to withdraw his client's no contest plea to a previous set of charges and entered a plea of no contest to a set of amended charges as part of a plea deal with the district attorney's office brought before the court today.

    A Hoopa woman was arrested in McKinleyville Thursday after authorities reported finding 17 grams of heroin and 22 oxycodone pills in her bra during a traffic stop. According to the Humboldt County Sheriff's Office, county Drug Task Force agents and a deputy served 22-year-old Alyssa Joanne Hunsucker with a search warrant when they stopped her car at Washington and McKinleyville avenues around 10:30 a.m. After reportedly finding the heroin and pills, authorities arrested Hunsucker on suspicion of driving without a valid license, possessing a controlled substance and possessing a controlled substance for sale.
