    A Shenandoah County fire official has determined that a grill filled with hot coals in the back of a pickup truck started a blaze that destroyed the vehicle Sunday. A Maurertown man, his girlfriend and their two small children were traveling in a 2018 Ford F350 through Strasburg at about 7 p.m., Joseph Loving, assistant Shenandoah County fire marshal, said Monday.

    A grand jury in Shenandoah County Circuit Court has indicted four county residents on charges stemming from the robbery of a Woodstock home the day after Thanksgiving. Brian Edward Shea, 31, and Philip Lee Runion, 20, both of Woodstock, and Aaron Matthew Branham, 35, and Adrian Paige Brown, 36, both of Maurertown, were each indicted last week on two counts of abduction by force and one count each of robbery and grand larceny.

    The Shenandoah County Sheriff's Office arrested James Harold Lichliter, 50, of Maurertown, Orkney Springs residents Craig Allen Kidwell, 51, and Norma Lynda Kidwell, 53, and Woodstock residents Johnathan Dale Neice, 40, and Stacey Allen Marston, 41. Investigators with the Shenandoah County Sheriff's Office, Woodstock Police Department and the Northwest Virginia Regional Drug Task Force inspected two heroin overdoses early Saturday morning, the sheriff's office said in a post on its Facebook page. One of the two people who overdosed later died, the post says.
