    The Summit Soil and Water Conservation District will present the annual Area II Ohio Envirothon April 28 at Sippo Lake Exploration Gateway, 5712 12th St. N.W. According to Summit SWCD officials, the Envirothon is an outdoor academic competition for high school students to test their knowledge of soils, wildlife, aquatic ecology, forestry and current environmental issues. Each team consists of five students from the same high school who answer questions at five test stations.

    Trever Davis, who started Scouting in 2003 as a first-grader with Buckeye Council Boy Scouts of America Cub Scout Pack 303 in Canal Fulton, was honored as an Eagle Scout Oct. 19. According to troop officials, Canal Fulton resident Davis, who took time off from Scouting after receiving Cub Scout's highest honor, the Arrow of Light, in February 2008 and moving on to Boy Scout Troop 916 in Massillon, came back to Scouting through Great Trail Council Boy Scout Troop 330 in Green in July 2013. He advanced through the ranks, earned 23 merit badges, attended summer camp, participated in service projects and went on numerous campouts with the troop.

    At the Nov. 2 Bath Township Board of Trustees meeting, trustees unanimously agreed to change the name of the center, located at 1615 N. Cleveland-Massillon Road, to Bath Community Park. According to township officials, the name change will help clarify the function of the 41-acre park, which features a picnic shelter and several picnic areas, a trail, tennis courts, soccer fields, volleyball courts, horseshoe pit courts, a basketball court and a football/lacrosse/rugby field.

The funds were collected through the "Food Club for the Boys & Girls Clubs" effort, which donated 1 percent of all Food Club brand sales June 4 through July 1. The 1 percent of sales from Acme Fresh Market's two Stark County stores were donated to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Massillon, and the amount raised from all other stores was donated to the Boys & Girls Club of the Western Reserve.
