Massena-based state police said the pursuit was initiated when they clocked on radar Noah M. Ransom III, 18, of 119 St. Regis Road, Hogansburg, allegedly travelling 114 miles per hour in a 45 mph speed zone at 3:07 a.m. Saturday in the eastbound lane of state Route 37 in the town of Massena.

Gallo, 65, of Brasher Falls with driving while intoxicated and ticketed her for moving from lane unsafely after responding to a report of a one-vehicle rollover at 12:21 a.m. Saturday on state Route 11C, near George Street, in the hamlet of Brasher Falls. Ms. Gallo was transported to Massena Memorial Hospital by Tri-Town Rescue for treatment of injuries she sustained in the crash.

During processing, village police had Arquiett transported to Massena Memorial Hospital by Massena Rescue Squad due to concerns about her health.

    On Oct. 15, 2014 a letter to the editor submitted by current Massena Mayor James Hidy was published on the Courier Observer website with the headline title of “Massena mayor recognizes paid firemen for their work during Fire Prevention Week.” As I read Mayor Hidy's letter, I was amazed at how he seemed to, in my opinion, go out of his way to greatly diminish the role of the Massena Volunteer Firefighters. Mayor Hidy is correct in stating that the paid firemen deserve praise for their efforts and their work.

    A Massena woman charged with a drop count when she picked up an envelope containing 1.5 grams of crystal methamphetamine at the U.S. Post Office on Main Street told police it was the first time she had received drugs in the mail. Village police charged Peter J. Amante, 39, of 60 Liberty Ave., Massena, with sixth-degree conspiracy and his girlfriend, Michelle L. Burns, 31, also of 60 Liberty Ave., Massena, with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance on Oct. 16. The couple reportedly went to the post office on Main Street in Massena late that Thursday afternoon to pick up a package that contained 1.5 grams of crystal methamphetamine.
