The Sandstoners boys outscored Massena 154-18 and Tupper Lake 169-56 while the Raiders salvaged a split via a 149-82 decision over the Lumberjacks.

At Mike Nicholas Field, the Raiders got off to a promising start when Kyran Sunday finished off an assist from Nick Henrie midway through the first quarter but the Shamrocks countered with five straight goals before going on to build a commanding halftime lead.

    The Potsdam Central and Norwood-Norfolk varsity track teams opened their NAC seasons by gaining splits on the road Tuesday afternoon. In a meet hosted by Canton Central, visiting Potsdam Central managed a hard-fought split after the girls team claimed a 180-144 decision while the Sandstoner boys were outscored 122.5-116.5 The Lady Sandstoners placed first in seven of the 16 events but dominated the second and third-place finishes en route to downing the Lady Bears.

    A Massena woman is breathing a sigh of relief after the state Court of Appeals reversed the dismissal of a litany of charges against a Hogansburg man related to a DWI crash that left her with life-threatening injuries. On Oct. 3, 2014, St. Lawrence County Court Judge Jerome J. Richards dismissed the indictment against Joseph A. Back II charging him with first- and second-degree assault, first-degree reckless endangerment, first-degree vehicular assault, two counts of second-degree vehicular assault, aggravated DWI and two counts of DWI.
