The win gave the Wildcats a 2-1 edge in the series with the Seagulls and set up a showdown this week with Marysville-Pilchuck. M-P leads the Wesco 3A North with a 4-0 record , one game up on Oak Harbor .

    After losing 52-37 to visiting Everett Monday, Feb. 9, in the final regular season game, the Oak Harbor High School girls basketball team journeys to Marysville Getchell at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 10, with hopes of keeping its season alive. Oak Harbor and Getchell finished the Wesco 3A North season tied for fourth, forcing Tuesday's tie-breaking game.

    Going in, this one had "blowout" written all over it, but the Oak Harbor High School boys basketball team battled Arlington before falling 60-44 on the Eagles' floor Friday, Jan. 30. The Wildcats entered the game with a 3-13 record, while Arlington sported a 11-5 mark, including a 77-51 win in Oak Harbor two weeks ago. Arlington was emotionally charged for its fifth annual Coaches vs. Cancer event, and a large, pink-clad crowd enthusiastically backed the Eagles' efforts.

    The visit was to thank the Oak Harbor players and staff for their willingness to forfeit the Oct. 24 football game and for their presence at a vigil and team meeting in Marysville the evening of the shooting at Marysville-Pilchuck High School that left three dead and three wounded. In the wake of the shooting, Oak Harbor coach Jay Turner called Marysville-Pilchuck coach Brandon Carson that night with the offer to concede the game, which was to decide the divisional title, to the Tomahawks.
