McKibben said at a board meeting in Council Bluffs on Thursday that he will campaign to replace President Bruce Rastetter, who is leaving the board when his term expires April 30. The board, which governs the state's three public universities, plans to hold a special meeting to pick new leadership. The board's president pro tem, Katie Mulholland, is also leaving the board.

Toledo residents 28-year-old Kyle Chyma, 30-year-old Edgar Hernandez, 24-year-old Kelbie Struve, 25-year-old Kailyn Struve and 24-year-old Marlene Hernandez, Tama residents 24-year-old Scott Steuhm and 22-year-old Tyler Walz and 45-year-old Marshalltown resident Alejandra Castillo-Hernandez appeared in federal court in Cedar Rapids, according to the United States Attorney's Office.

Reade sentenced Marcos Perez-Trevino, 46, to 24 years in federal prison for conspiring to distribute ice methamphetamine according to a media release from the Department of Justice.

    Marshalltown firefighters were dispatched Saturday to put out a fire in the methane retention and collection system at JBS Swift at 402 N. 10th Ave. Upon arrival about 10:30 a.m., fire crews discovered a large gas-fed fire at the methane collection lagoon. In conjunction with JBS staff, the plant was isolated from the collection system to prevent any gas exposure to the facility.
