    Marshalltown Community College students enrolled in this fall's 2-D Design and 3-D Design art classes are exhibiting their "altered books" through mid-November at the Marshalltown Public Library. Professor Tim Castle says this is the 6th year that the altered book project has been part of the 2-D and 3-D Design curriculum, and it's one of the students' favorite projects.

    J. Carmen Alvarez, 68, Tama, was identified as the driver of a vehicle which was broadsided by a semi-trailer truck shortly before 7 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 1, by the Iowa State Patrol. Alvarez was transported by Tama ambulance to Central Iowa Healthcare, Marshalltown, with what were believed minor injuries, the patrol said.

    Tama and Belle Plaine ambulance and the Tama and Chelsea fire departments were dispatched to the scene of an accident at U.S. Highway 30 and Tama County Road E66 about 10 miles east of Tama or five miles north of Chelsea shortly before 7 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 1. The Tama ambulance was transporting at least one of the victims to Central Iowa Healthcare in Marshalltown. It was reported a semi hit a vehicle broadside with one victim trapped in the vehicle.
