    Meeting on Monday, Dec. 7, the Albion City Council voted 4-3 to pass a resolution "disapproving" the proposed annexation resolution the Albion School Board passed on Dec. 1. Voting for the council's resolution and against the annexation were Mayor Joe Domingo and Garrett Brown, Rebecca Decker and Lenn Reid. Maurice Barnes, Cheryl Krause and Andrew French voted against the resolution.

    If all the pieces fall into place in time, it could mean that Albion's sixth-, seventh- and eighth-graders could be attending Marshall Middle School in January. No final decision has been made yet, but this topic is expected to be discussed at a special Albion School Board meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 15, and a special Marshall School Board meeting on Wednesday, Dec. 16. "Right now, we're just exploring this," Albion School Board President Michael Bearman said.

    Detectives are searching for four people who reportedly pulled a gun on two women late Saturday during a road rage incident in eastern St. Joseph County , authorities said. The incident occurred at 11:20 p.m. near the intersection of U.S. 12 and St. Joseph Road, near the St. Joseph-Branch County border, according to Michigan State Police.

    Police are seeking the public's assistance in locating a semitrailer driver connected to a road-rage and hit-and-run crash that injured a fellow truck driver. The suspect reportedly made aggressive gestures at the victim before side-swiping him, causing the victim's vehicle to overturn into the ditch on northbound I-69 in Convis Township at the 42-mile marker, according to a Michigan State Police press release.

    An Indiana man was killed when his northbound semitrailer went off the road and careened into a wooded area early Wednesday morning, Nov. 11. The truck was northbound on I-69 near the exit for Old U.S. 27 in Branch County south of Tekonsha. A Michigan State Police sergeant at the Marshall post said both lanes of northbound I-69 were open around 9 a.m., but one southbound lane remained blocked.

Hastings, a Class B school with a Michigan High School Athletic Association enrollment of 812, was picked over Class A Jackson to replace Charlotte .
